Something I did not really understand: is he meant to be either:
— An animatronic made to represent the real Croc (like Animatronic Donald, Animatronic Goofy, and so on) ? But then why would he want to eat Captain Hook if he's just an instinctless and needless robot ?
— The real crocodile turned to a robot like the pirates ? But why is he in Wasteland in the first place, then ? He sure is not forgotten at all these days !
— An alternate version of the Crocodile (like the alternate Smee) turned into a robot like the pirates ? But then is THERE an actual rejected concept of the crocodile that inspired this, somewhere in the archives ?
Also — how can he (and Hook) swim in the Thinner Ocean who, normally, would dissolve anything ?
